Cartridges in inkjet printers very often have sponges installed inside. Such an absorbent sponge is hard to touch and porous. Its job is to absorb ink and prevent it from leaking onto the print head. It is recommended to replace this element each time the cartridge is refurbished - the new sponge accepts and releases more ink, it is less susceptible to ink drying, and thus ensures high print quality and high efficiency. In the case of color cartridges and the mixing of ink in the chambers, replacement of the sponge is necessary - only such a procedure will restore the proper color reproduction.
